Deciduous, height to 40cm.
Delightful, dwarf fern, the easiest of the Woodsia's to grow. Can be grown in stone walls, rock gardens or the front of the border. Unfussy about soil and very hardy.
A genus of low growing species, 25 in all, found in mountainous regions. Fronds persist well into winter until the first hard frost.
These small alpine ferns are ideal for rock gardens, containers and alpine houses. They prefer shade (full to light) and well drained soil. Surprisingly easy to grow if given reasonable drainage.
